Joelle is a local textile artist. She loves to get out walking in the beautiful Derbyshire and Staffordshire countryside looking for inspiration, taking photographs of the flora and fauna, returning to her studio with ideas to design and create using freehand machine embroidery and crochet. She has a particular passion for dragonflies.
Joelle runs fabulous jewellery making workshops, specialising in crochet with wire and butterfly brooches. This spring she has returned to her roots, and introduced some new textile workshops to her repertoire. Detail of these can be seen on her website www.joelleharris.co.uk
Joelle loves to search out interesting jackets in charity shops and give them a new lease of life, this may just a change of buttons and trimming, shortening and reshaping or even cutting it up to make a waistcoat.
A resurgence of the ‘make do and mend’ spirit, a greater interest in traditional hobbies and smaller household budgets have led to an increased demand for craft activities and Joelle is here to help you to learn those traditional sewing skills which will enable you to recycle items in your wardrobe into to great fitting and up to date styles or turn them into useful cushions and bags to keep those memories alive.
Joelle has a joint exhibition with Pauline Fitzpatrick at Cromford Mill in June, where you can see many of her new designs including altered jackets and an amazing 4 foot crochet dragonfly. For further information contact Joelle on 07913 995564 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
