Lisa Marie

Creative Director

Designer at Tigerlily Makes

Hello and welcome! I’m Lisa Marie, the creative mind behind Tigerlily Makes, and I design all things Lily the Lamb, Alice by Lily, Felt Fairyland, Felt Storyland, and Felt Wonderland from the heart of my home studio in Staffordshire.

I’ve always been a visual storyteller, and for many years, I’ve used soft textiles like felt, fabric, and threads to bring fun and meaningful narratives to life.

My journey began in school, where I fell in love with needlework and textile arts. Over time, I discovered a natural flair for creating beautiful things with fabric, ribbons, buttons, and threads, a skill that grew into my passion for designing unique, handcrafted creations.

In the early years, I customized items for family and friends, from home decor to accessories, and soon began crafting for my own home and wardrobe. This love of creativity blossomed into a thriving entrepreneurial journey, which has spanned over 40 years and has included everything from upcycling, paper crafting, and felt-making to designing one-of-a-kind baby clothes and home accessories.

But my creative journey has not been without its challenges. Over time, I’ve faced multiple chronic health conditions that have impacted my ability to physically create in the way I once did. While my hands may not be as nimble as they used to be, my heart remains fully committed to sharing the joy of creativity. Today, my focus has shifted toward creating a library of downloadable digital patterns, along with detailed tutorials, to inspire and guide others on their own crafting journeys.

I believe that everyone should be able to experience the magic of making, whether it's stitching your own creations or just adding a touch of handmade beauty to your life. My goal is to provide all the tools and guidance you need to bring these stories to life, one stitch at a time.

As an award-winning designer and published author of Felt Wonderland, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing my work featured on TV, as well as being recognized as part of the "Best of British" creative community. But beyond accolades, it's the magic of fairy tales – like Alice in Wonderland, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, The Grimm Brothers, and Dickens' classic tales – that fuels my designs. These stories and characters, full of wonder and adventure, continue to inspire my work to this day, especially my Lily the Lamb, Alice by Lily, and Felt Wonderland ranges.

For the past 6 few years, I've also embraced a vegan lifestyle, and all my kits and finished creations are now made with sustainable, vegan-friendly materials such as bamboo fibers.

I am deeply committed to helping others discover their creativity, whether you're new to crafting or a seasoned maker looking for something fresh. I want to continue developing my designs, sharing my love for crafting, and most importantly, ensuring that everyone who joins me on this creative journey feels inspired to create their own magic at home.

Fun Fact

As a teen, I tried horse riding for the first (and only!) time on a dappled grey horse named Rupert. Rupert, however, had other plans and decided the grass on a roundabout was too tempting to resist! He galloped off, and though I held on for dear life, I soon realized that I preferred animals roaming free, especially after becoming vegan.

Favorite Food

A hearty vegan Sunday roast is my ultimate comfort food. When the colder months set in, nothing beats a full plant-based roast complete with cheesy vegan sprout gratin, roast potatoes, crispy Yorkshire puddings, and a mountain of vegetables, all smothered in rich vegan gravy.

Family & Pets

I’m happily married to my husband, Phil, and we share our lives with our grown-up son, Lloyd, and two adorable rescue dogs, Luke and Leia (yes, we’re Star Wars fans!). Though our beloved rescue cat, Sox, has passed over the rainbow bridge, we cherish the memories of her time with us. Outside of work, we love spending time together with movie nights, marathon gaming sessions, and gentle/slow travel.
